This is my other son. He is 12 years old. I think he's very handsome.
He is autistic. We manage pretty well though.
He loves theme parks! Walt Disney World is his favorite.
They are very good to kids with special needs. He loves the Magic Kingdom.
He loves Epcot.
He loves Hollywood Studios.
He does not love Animal Kingdom. It gets very crowded there.
It's not my favorite place either.
He also loves Universal Studios. His magic wand is a great stimmy toy.
When he was younger, he even loved Busch Gardens.
We haven't been there in a while. The crowds get pretty big there.
He is suspicious of our cats, but they love him. Who can blame them?
He likes books. We don't think he can read. He likes it when we read to him.
His favorite books are "Where the Wild Things Are" by Maurice Sendak, "Baby Beluga" by Raffi, "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See" and "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" by Eric Carle. They have been his favorites since he was 4 or 5. I couldn't tell you how many copies we have of each one in the house. I hope someday he will be able to read the words for himself.
It isn't always easy to have a son with autism. I'd be lying if I said I don't sometimes get sad and angry and weep for what's been lost. I've found overall though it's much easier for all of us to accept reality, pray for a cure, and enjoy the ride.
