Slightly Veering Off Topic

I never can quite figure out the twists and turns my life is going to take. It is June already, and I've been working (teaching) again, since November, a circumstance I would NOT have predicted. Despite my surprise, I am mostly content. My gardens are mostly ornamental at this point, which is disappointing. I aim to change this, now that I will have my summer "free" time at home with the children.

Mr. Autism has finished 5th grade, and is off to middle school. I'm still a little shocky about that. Mr. Smarty Pants has finished half a year sitting in a 3rd grade class more or less successfully (academically more, socially less) and will be a regular 3rd grader, sitting in a regular 3rd grade next year. My beloved and I experienced our 10th wedding anniversary. The word celebrate would not be appropriate here, but I'm trying not to dwell.

My book is still not finished, and that is like an open wound on my soul. I haven't given up; I just ran out of hours in the day, and I chose to be an effective mother and teacher this spring. Also, we have 2 new puppies running the house: King the Labrador Retriever mix and Toby the Jack Russell / Chihuahua mix. I have been busy scrubbing floors, but I think (hope/pray) that the potty training time is over.

Why am I coming back to the blog? I really want to finish my book and write out the process. I also really like what I'm doing with some of my students and Mr. Smarty Pants and want a way to share the resources/ideas. I am also coming back to it because erasing it and starting again would be the easy thing to do. I'm tired of the easy thing. At 32 years old, it's time to start finishing what I start.
