Gentle Gardening - What's Growing Now?

While we may not have white Christmases, ever, in the Tampa Bay area, a green Christmas works for me!

This is the first year I am trying to plant sweet onions from sets. So far, so good!

Loose-leaf lettuce is a staple of my container garden. I grow lots of individual plants so that I can harvest enough outer leaves at one time for a salad while still growing the next group of leaves.

Peas are a new addition to my garden this fall/winter. So far they are trellising well!

Grape tomatoes are growing well in tall cages. They love the slightly cooler weather.

I have one last three week rotation of green beans growing in the garden beds. They enrich the soil and provide a tasty steamed side dish at dinner! I will start replanting cycles of beans in late January/early February.

My topsy-turvy pepper planters have produced very well this year. There are 3 topsy-turvies which contain bell peppers, banana peppers, jalapenos and cayennes. The bell peppers go in salads. The rest I have been mostly freezing to pickle for my husband.
