How I Am Revising My First Draft

I've got 90 pages of the first stage of revision done so far, and I probably should explain exactly what I mean by that, while I'm taking a break to tend to my little men.

I have decided that since I was getting nowhere fast trying to read on the Kindle, and edit on the computer, or read and edit on the computer, that I would work off of the hard copy I printed out and put in a 3 ring binder for my mother to read.

As a teacher, of course I have index cards and index card holders and paper clips of all sizes and colors. Teachers are notorious for their passion for office supplies and I am no different.

I am using plain white lined index cards, "normal" size, 1 card per note, correction or addition (and thankfully, there are more additions and notes than corrections!). I scribble the page number on the top right hand corner of each card, and I am clipping the cards together, in order, by chapter.

At some point, I hope I will find a way to use my variety-pack colored index cards in some meaningful fashion during this revision process. I am open to suggestions.

After I have gone through the entire first draft making cards, I will then make the corrections on the computer, print out a second draft, and....

I don't know, really. I'll figure it out at that point, I guess.

And now, it's carpooling time!
